us, about what we do, what we believe in and what we value.
Our Lady Queen of the Missions School in Kolkata was
started on 1st August 1946 with 5 students and QMS Salt Lake was
established in April 2001 as a branch of this School and now forming the
destiny of more than 1500 girls in Salt Lake city. The school has built for
itself a high reputation that is cherished
by discerning parents and students alike. It is a chance for all to see the QMS community, comprising
students, teachers and parents, as a centre aiming for high expectations, high standards and high
achievements.
Teaching
is the noblest vocation known to the civilized world. It is what academicians
everywhere live for; it is what Socrates died for. To teach our pupils, we have
a faculty of 57. Our staff is committed, caring and professional in all that they
do as teachers. We cannot guarantee to
resolve every difficulty but we will put our utmost into doing so. We are
flexible and understanding, promising to work around difficulties which may
arise in the lives of our young charges.
We therefore work very hard to ensure that our school is indeed a safe
space and as far as possible, a happy place for each child. This is so
important because the happy child is the child who learns and succeeds best. We
strive to create an environment where each and every student is given the
attention necessary to achieve her individual success.
Children are born with immense natural curiosity and have
so many wonderful questions spinning in their minds. They want to know all
about what they observe. Ambitious students have a willingness to try to do
something great in whatever they do. Like all other educational institutions our school also has certain rules and
restrictions. Our creative students like
great musicians or painters figure out
that some rules are actually empowering, and that some can be stretched or
adjusted when the occasion demands. Beyond academics, we provide a rich and
balanced programme of learning and co-curricular activities, all aimed at
moulding our pupils into complete, disciplined and well-rounded personnels. All
students are encouraged to focus on their values and their relationship with others,
to become aware of the world around them. Academically, we have a track record
of years of consistent impressive results as a testimony of the school's
tradition of excellence.
